FRIDAY 30th APRIL 2027: ALEX CLARKE (saxophone)
A comparative newcomer to UK jazz, Alex Clarke has, in only a few years, become a fixture on the scene. A 2020 finalist in the UK Young Jazz Musician of the Year Award, Alex was tutored by Andy Panayi and has since formed her own quartet with pianist David Newton. As well as performing with the Simon Spillett Big Band and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, Alex is a respected educator and is a consummate artist on alto, tenor, clarinet and flute.
Peter Vacher in UK Jazz News has praised her as “…assertive and strong-toned in the manner of her main influence Phil Woods.”
