He is a versatile and resourceful player, at home playing straight-ahead jazz or funk, leading his big band Sax Appeal or behind the scenes as a producer/engineer. Derek is constantly touring and is an in-demand session player but his most high-profile gig is with the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.
