Bournemouth-born George “Zoot” Money is now regarded as a local hero and these annual homecoming birthday celebrations have become a feature of our calendar. After forming the first incarnation of the Big Roll Band in 1961, Zoot Money moved to London and a residency at the Flamingo Club in the West End. Inspired by the theatrics of Jerry Lee Lewis and the gospel soul of Ray Charles Zoot Money gained a considerable reputation on the burgeoning UK R&B scene. Along the way Zoot has collaborated with Eric Burdon, Andy Summers, Alexis Korner and Peter Green. You can expect plenty of anecdotes and some ribald humour. You can also expect serious, no-nonsense musicianship.
