Friday 13th July

Zoot Money (vocals & keyboards) with his Big Roll Band
3 courses £49 / 2 courses £44 / Music only £22

return to celebrate Zoot’s birthday. Expect a fun-filled evening with plenty of no-nonsense rhythm and blues.

The live music continues throughout the summer, kicking off with a birthday reunion for Bournemouth-born R&B legend Zoot Money who brings along his Big Roll Band.
In the mid-sixties Zoot Money and the Big Roll Band became a big attraction at The Flamingo Club alongside the likes of Georgie Fame and The Blue Flames, The Animals, Alexis Korner and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers. Famed as much for his onstage antics as his gutsy vocal delivery and the tightness of his band, Zoot Money went on to pursue a parallel career in the eighties as an actor in film and television. Zoot Money and The Big Roll Band continue to roll on, touring continuously and making regular appearances at The Bulls Head, Barnes.
You can expect plenty of banter, some hilarious anecdotes and some no-nonsense blues.

The Andy Urquhart Quartet will take a well-earned break from their Sunday lunchtime duties. Instead we will be entertained by pianist/vocalist Julie Lewis every Friday evening between 7.30pm and 10.00pm. There will not be a cover charge but we advise you to book a table.

Friday 3rd August 2018

Brandon Allen (saxophone) with The Andy Urquhart Quartet,

3 courses £49 / 2 courses £44 / Music only £22

A native of Perth, Western Australia, Brandon Allen has been UK based since 2000 and is now a familiar presence on the circuit performing with his own quartet or alongside Nigel Hitchcock and Mark Nightingale. He also teaches at the Guildhall School of Music, composes for film and television and is an in-demand session player. His most recent projects have included a Gene Ammons tribute with organist Ross Stanley.

“Brandon Allen is arguably the most exciting tenor player in Britain today. His phrasing is unashamedly emotional, soaked in the blues tradition.” Tony Hall (JAZZWISE)

Friday 28th September 2018

Sara Dowling (vocals) with The Andy Urquhart Quartet

3 courses £49 / 2 courses £44 / Music only £22

Sara Dowling visited us in January and produced a stunning performance that lived up to and exceeded everyone’s expectations. With a background in classical music and education, Sara Dowling came late to jazz but has built up an impressive reputation as a performer and interpreter of the “great American Songbook”.

“…she has an impressive range which is particularly resonant in the lower register, with precise diction and a melodious, ringing tone.” Jazz Journal
